INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Intellectual Property International

Each country has enacted its own laws related to Intellectual Property.  Generally, the specific laws for patents, trademarks and copyrights in these countries are aligned with the similar laws of the United States, but often with some subtle differences. Organizations such as the Patent Cooperation Treaty and the Madrid Protocol allow Applicants from one country to pursue intellectual property rights in other countries while claiming the benefits of their earliest priority.  Often applications made using one of the international treaties saves time and money when compared to the direct filing in other countries, nevertheless, applications can be made directly into another country if made within the appropriate time period.
